There was not enough south-facing roof to take the whole system, so it was split east and west. That lowers the peak but widens it: the house generates earlier in the morning and later in the afternoon, which matches when anyone is actually home.
Tiled roofs need hooks that sit on the batten rather than on the tile itself. Done properly nothing is drilled through a tile and nothing bears on one either.
